H.P. Kingfisher (a pseudonym) is a former worship leader at the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC) who grew up in the IHOP-adjacent world.
She is exceptionally articulate and has taken a lot of time to examine her life at IHOP and ask herself the hard questions and come out the other side with really good things to say.

As a child, I learned the foundations of my faith in kids’ church at Metro Vineyard Fellowship. The church that would later become Forerunner Christian Fellowship. Mike Bickle was our pastor from the time I was a toddler through my teenage years and even into adulthood.
Q: What was it like growing up in the IHOPKC world?
Life was incredibly narrow. The world was small and we were at the center. Regular fasting with the promises of revival finally happening after such and such fast or event was a genius ploy to keep us strung along. My parents poured out their whole lives and future security towards a ministry that regularly told us everything was a waste of time because Jesus was coming back in our lifetime. You can’t take your money or boat to heaven with you so you might as well give it away and sow the money towards the prayer room.
