You can listen to this interview or read the edited transcripts below :)

This week for my detangling subset interview, I have here my mother, Jennifer Roberts, really excited to be able to interview her, and we are just going to jump right in.

Q: Introduce yourself a little bit and share where you grew up etc.

I grew up. I was born in California but raised in Washington State. I was raised in a non-Christian family, raised by hippies. My claim to fame is Charles Manson babysat my brothers, true story. I know it sounds like a total lie, but it's not. There was chaos in the home, craziness. My dad went to prison for drugs and got out when I was 18 months old. I have five older brothers raised in a small town in Washington State. My parents got saved when just before I turned 16, and a lot in our life changed after that, but my growing up was pretty chaotic.

Chloe Roberts: How old were you when you got saved?

I got saved just before I turned 16. So my parents got saved, and then six months later I got saved.

Q: And how did you end up in Kansas City?

Well, Dwayne and I were in Youth With A Mission (YWAM). First, we were in Amsterdam, and then we moved with a small team to plant a Youth With a Mission base in Budapest, Hungary. In 1998 we were hosting a conglomerate of events. It was a music festival, it was a discipleship festival, and it was like an evangelistic crusade and a concert all in one. Dwayne was in a band back then and we traveled throughout the former Yugoslavia, a little bit before the war, but mainly after the war. And so we got to know a lot of people in the Balkan nations. So the goal was to have all these people from the Balkans come to the event.
