Today is the day my friends!
I am officially launching my new Paid Tier on Substack and my new interview series “Detangling”.
These written interviews are with people that I admire and respect deeply. They share vulnerably about their time at IHOPKC, detangling faith from lies and manipulation, and how they’re moving forward.
I think we can all learn something from their stories.
My goal with these interviews is not to re-hash information that has already been shared or try to squeeze out the gory details. I want to give us, the readers, hope when we hear these stories.
To get access to this new series, and my monthly Q&A, you’ll need to sign up for my Paid Tier.
You can pay $5 / month or $50 / year.
BUT if you sign up before October 7th you will get a 20% discount for the lifetime of your subscription.
Note: if you cancel your subscription and sign up again you will not have the 20% discount.
Let me answer a few questions you probably have…
Why Should I Subscribe to the Paid Tier?
The reason for subscribing is two-fold. First off, I’m pretty great and you should consider supporting my writing here on Substack. Pastor’s Kid is my side gig, not my full-time job. I spend a lot of time on it to share my thoughts and heart with you all. Your support helps me to deliver higher-quality media and writing. Any support you can give means the world.
Secondly, signing up for the paid tier will get you access to two pretty cool things. You’ll get access to exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews twice a month. These interviews will be with people you’ve heard of and some you haven’t, but I can guarantee that they have things worth hearing and a story worth listening to. The interviews will be about what it’s like to live in the church, be a pastor, and even some stories of the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC).
You will also get access to monthly Q&As with yours truly. You can jump into Substack and fire away with all your burning questions about me and my world.
What do you get:
Weekly articles about the church, being a pastor’s and missionary kid, and sometimes about IHOPKC
Bi-monthly exclusive written interviews with people like Jane Doe, Dwayne Roberts, Richard Town III and many others
Monthly Q&A with me, Chloe Roberts
The meaningful feeling of supporting a cool person (again, me)
Not ready to sign up for the paid tier yet? All good. You will still get access to my weekly posts, but not the interviews or monthly Q&A.
Not convinced yet?
Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the two interviews that are available NOW:
Besides a lack of church government and hypocritical self-centered abusive leaders; IHOP has taken a dogmatic stance on a non-essential theology and placed it in the center as the main motivation for their ministry.
Now I would see everything as a red flag, right? Every freaking thing is a red flag.
I mean, the world is more educated than the church. But the church needs to get educated, because I don't believe that this can ever happen again. This is the moment when Jesus is literally judging His church and exposing. All these guys had a playbook, and everyone did the same thing and and it's just so sick.
Jesus is good, and the story's not over yet. The story is not over yet. And these are evil religious systems that Jesus had a lot to say about. They are not who He is. In fact, He came for the broken. He came for the contrite. He dwells with the broken and the contrite. And He resists the proud and draws close to the humble.
My parents poured out their whole lives and future security towards a ministry that regularly told us everything was a waste of time because Jesus was coming back in our lifetime.
You can’t take your money or boat to heaven with you so you might as well give it away and sow the money towards the prayer room. Phrases like ‘this is the wisest thing you can do in this hour’ and ‘the urgency of the hour’ and concepts like ’waste your life like Mary of Bethany’ were regularly said to new comers and to those of us already giving the most.
I really am excited about this series. I’ve been privileged to talk to a lot of really amazing people and I want to pull back the curtain on some of our conversations with share it with you.
P.S. The 20% off discount only lasts until October 7th. Don’t wait too long.
I did sign up today!
