Pastor’s Kid by Chloe Roberts
I like to pull back the curtain now and then on what it’s like to be a pastor’s kid and missionary kid who’s been in the church my whole life. I’m not here to smear the church and expose all her dirty laundry. But I do share candidly what it was like growing up at the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC) and how I’ve begun an extensive sifting process (while still holding fast to my faith and Jesus).
I post weekly about what’s on my mind, news about the IHOPKC scandal, how I’m surviving and sifting, and the many nuances of being a pastor’s kid stateside and overseas. A few random stories too.

Who is This Chick Anyway?
I’m Chloe. Hi.
I was born in Kansas City, Missouri. My parents were the first official staff members of a once-but-no-longer thriving ministry called the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC). For those who are unfamiliar, IHOPKC is a 24/7 prayer room that is facing allegations of abuse along with its founder Mike Bickle.
I grew up going to the prayer room weekly and remember distinctly discovering that not everyone worked in a 24/7 prayer room. I had one simple question “What does everyone do all day then?”.
After living in Kansas City for 13 years the family and I moved to Florianopolis, Brazil where we planted a praying church and missions base. I spent all of my teen years on that beautiful island. Most of those challenging and rewarding years of my life.
In 2019, we left Brazil and moved to Denver, Colorado. I might be the only person you meet who will admit that they actually don’t really like Colorado… While we lived there my parents pastored a church and I worked at a construction company, cause why not?
In 2021 (after a brief stint in Spain) my family and I moved back to…. Kansas City.
It was all fun and games at first (well, actually not really, I’ll save that story for another time). Little did we know that 2 years after moving back we would step into one of the largest charismatic church scandals in recent history.
